Return to Sender...

A woman from my hometown “returned” a child she adopted a few months ago.

RETURNED. Like a shirt that your grandmother gave you for Christmas or a pair of pants that makes your ass look too big.
RETURNED. Like a book from the library you didn’t like enough or were too frugal to buy. Like a video you watched once then left lying around until it was past due.

How exactly do you RETURN a child? Apparently, it’s by putting them on a plane with a note and paying a stranger $200 to pick them up and drop them off at the return box, I mean agency.

I completely understand that this woman was doing what she thought was the best thing for the others in her family. She feels that the boy is mentally unstable and abusive. Um, I am willing to bet that had she done a little research, she would have seen that older children adopted from Russia often have issues such as these and need therapy to adjust to their new families. Who knows if she got help for the poor boy? All I know is that I feel so bad for the countless other parents who are trying to adopt a child from Russia who’s lives are no in a holding pattern because of the actions of one woman.

Thanks, Lady. You not only damaged the life of the child you decided you didn't want, but may have damaged the lives of so many others who want a child so badly.
